Why 50 Concerts?

For the past two years, Liam has been training and hiking with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Hike for Discovery program and has completed three hikes into the Grand Canyon in order to raise very needed funds for research into a cure for blood related cancers. During the past two years, Liam has personally raised over $10,000 for the LLS. But it is not enough!! So now Liam has set himself another goal: to personally raise a MINIMUM of $50,000 within a 24-month period for the Society through performing 50 concerts in all 50 US States. "While hiking is a great way to raise money for this cause, I feel the need to do something more proactive and use my talents in a much more personal manner."

The Power of Music

Music has always had the power to move people and, as an international langauge, everyone can relate to the message that music communicates. By performing recitals across the country, Liam is able effectively to communicate the mission of his fundraising project while also giving something back to the local communities within which he will be performing.

Project Outline

50 Concerts in 50 US States will take place over a period of 24 months with recitals being performed in regular concert settings, festivals and established music series around the country. Each performance will raise a minimum of $1000 from fees, donations and CD sales that will be put towards the goal of a minimum of $50,000.

A minimum of 75% of all money raised will be sent directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with a maximum of 25% being used to cover travel and accommodation expenses. All expenses and receipts are visiable by clicking this link.

Program

One of the greatest feats of musical creativity was the composition for the cello of the timeless, moving and beautiful unaccompanied suites by J.S. Bach. Ranging from the simple purity of the first suite in G major to the complex and dark C minor suite, these six amazing works offer variety while telling a musical story that will delight and interest any musical audience. At each concert, three or four of these suites will be performed, providing musically fulfilling recitals as well as accessible programming that can be enjoyed by all audiences. A CD of the six Bach cello suites , performed and recorded by Liam Abramson, will be available for purchase at each concert with 100% of revenue generated from their sale going directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
